One afternoon last week about an hour after we had gotten home from school and work, I was at the stove making dinner when my boys called to me and asked me to "come and see something."
When I walked into the playroom, they both looked up at me from their squatting positions on the floor. "Look, Mom," they said, eyes wide and shining with excitement. "We made a heart with our train tracks!"
I swear that since becoming a mom, I cry over damn near everything. I felt my own eyes begin to shine as a few happy tears prepared to spill over.
Because even though they are 6 and 3 and I've had plenty of time to get used to the awesome fact that I'm a mom, I'll still never forget the 3-year struggle that the hubs and I went through to have kids and how thankful I am to have experienced that struggle. Not only did it greatly contribute to the family that I have now, but it also makes me aware--completey, awesomely aware--of how very, very sweet the privilege of being a mom actually is.
That--and daily gifts like the one below--make for the best Valentine's Day ever...every day.
Happy Valentine's Day, all!
